This piece was written during the 2023 spring class of the Wizarding School for Composers. Throughout this time, many different ways of drawing inspiration were practiced and implimented. Drawing inspiration from modern film music, along with composers like Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gordan Jacob, and several other classical composers, to create a new work for an orchestral setting.

The Warmth in Yearning Placed 3rd in the Silverling Composition Competition in December 2023.

Solo Instrument

Rising (2020) - for solo flute - ca 7:00

Based on a couple hymns, Rising lifts through different key signatures and moves through tonalities in order to create a rising feeling.

Humming Memories  (2021) - for solo euphonium with piano accompaniment - ca. 8:30

My first brass solo was a challenge for me personally, both as a composer and a performer. I was inspired by my time as a euphonium player. I had recent negative experiences with the instrument, and this piece helped me look back at the positive memories while playing the euphonium.

Warming Up (2023) - For solo viola - ca. 3 minutes

Written while attending the Wizarding School for Composers, Warming Up is a solo viola work inspired by the sounds and techniques I had heard before an Orchestra rehearsal.

Warming up received a Finalist status in the 2023 Northern California Viola Society International Composer's contest. It was one of 7 finalists out of over 80 submissions.

Chamber Ensemble (3-8 Performers)

Isolated Opportunities (2020) for flute, oboe, piano, harp, soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. - ca. 5:30

Based on a Poem from Patricia Newcomb, Isolated opportunities looks in the future after COVID-19

Moving Forward (2021) - for two violins, viola, and cello - ca. 20:00

The big project of my senior recital, Moving Forward encapsulates different feelings and showcases hope in a chaotic world.

To go on… (2023) - for euphonium, tuba, and piano - ca. 4:15

The Tales of a Hero (2023) - for Pierrot Ensemble and Percussion (Vibraphone and Marimba) - ca. 8:15

A piece written for the Women Composer's Festival of Hartford, The Tales of a Hero is inspired by several relaxing pieces that I had heard from favorite video games I had played growing up.

This piece starts off slow and reminiscent, exploring the different soundscapes that the Pierrot Ensemble can create. Halfway through, the work speeds up, reflecting a change to take on more challenges. Being very rhythmic and engaging, The Tales of a Hero ends in a very exciting manner.

The First performance was on June 8th, 2024 by the San Marcos Artists Retention and Training Orchestra in their Composers Recital.

Electronic

Electrojam (2021) for Fixed Media - 5:38

Inspired by my friends in one of my composition classes who were more experienced in electronic music than I was at that time, I composed a “jam” for them. This piece was meant to be as fun as possible.

When Cold Turns Warm  (2019) for Fixed Media and three horns  - 6:12

The first electronic piece I have written, this piece was an exploration of different sounds on Logic Pro and how to write a fixed piece with live elements.

Dance

Automated Exhaustion  (2021) for Cello, String Bass, and one Dancer. Hayley Duplantier, Choreographer and Gracie Sedach, dancer - 5:26

Inspired by the Industrial Revolution, Automated Exhaustion explored the exploitation of the workers during this time. The dancer became extremely tired while doing the same repetitive activities over and over again.

Indeterminate Works

A Message for You (2021) - for 3-8 audience members or performers - ca. 8 minutes

As another piece based on mail, A Message for You is based on a stack of postcards and dice to make music in a group of people.
