The Guardians are an open class drum corps based out of Texas.
Drum Corps is quite a unique activity. For those of you who do not know, Drum Corps is a summer marching activity that consists of members performing on Brass and Percussion instruments. Additionally, some members will be a part of the color guard, consisting of dancing, spinning flags, spinning rifles, and so much more.
I was fortunate to porticipate within the activity in 2018 (Shadow DBC) and 2021 (Troopers 2021). It was a life changing activity for me, as I made several friends, learned and perfected my musical and marching craft, and had a desire to continue my journey with Drum Corps after my age out season.
Performing with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2021
My journey of working with drum corps started last year in 2023, where I taught with the Seattle Cascades, out of Seattle, Washington. It gave me additional wonderful drum corps experiences that I never got to experience before. I was able to visit the Pacific Northwest for the first time ever, experiencing a whole new type of weather during the summer. (It was much colder than I had expected!) Plus, I was able to teach new members and learn so much about music and teaching from my fellow peers.
The Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, established in 2012
Due to a wide variety of factors, I have now moved to teaching at the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps. I am extremely excited for this opportunity, as I get to return to DCI's Open Class division, teaching and honing the skills of so many musicians. Additionally, I am very excited to teach through Texas and all of the Midwest throughout the DCI tour, hitting up extremely popular DCI stadiums!
If you are interested in seeing me or the Guardians as a whole, visit the DCI website and check out the schedule!
